A Women’s Health Experience – a free community event

Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs-Charlotte are hosting A Women’s Health Experience from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26. The free event takes place at AL!VE, 800 W. Lawrence Ave., in Charlotte.

A Women’s Health Experience focuses on five dimensions of health and well-being: move, eat, think, breathe and support. Free scheduled activities include:

  • More than 20 different interactive learning opportunities
  • Physician-guided conversations
  • Ideas and tips on managing day-to-day life
  • Demonstrations, including healthy cooking, group exercise, integrated medicine and more
  • Exercise samplers, including tai chi, circuit and weight training, yoga and Zumba.


Featured presentations include:

  • “Three Tips for Resilience in your Life” by Barbara Fulton, Ph.D.
  • Women’s Health Panel: Journey Through the Ages with Dr. Robert Seiler, Dr. Grace Gibbs and Dr. Sandra Russell
  • “Restore your Resolve” by Dr. Kimberly Johnson and Sherlyn Hogeson, MS, RD
  • Acupuncture demonstration by Dr. Seneca Storm
  • “Cardiac Health in Women” by Dr. Mohan Madala


Childcare is also available at no charge. Participants who want to use the childcare for children who are potty-trained and older, must preregister by downloading the registration form at www.hgbhealth.com.

The first half-hour of the event, participants will arrive to register, explore the event offerings and sign up for the specific activities they’d like to join. Most of the experiences will begin every half-hour starting at 1:30 p.m., and last for 20 minutes. The final activities will begin at 3:30 p.m. There will also be table massages, body composition testing and bone density screenings every 10 minutes between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Balance screenings will take place every 10 minutes between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

A Women’s Health Experience kicks off “Community Vitality Week.” There are daily opportunities during the week offered by Charlotte Public Schools, Experience Art, The Eaton Area Senior Center and AL!VE. Visit Annual Events at www.hgbhealth.com for more details.
