Mobile Meals Inc. of Charlotte can make a difference for those experiencing difficulty preparing meals. Many senior, handicapped and convalescing people want to remain in their homes. If you or someone you know needs healthy, nutritious, tasty meals delivered by a cheerful, caring volunteer on a daily basis, Mobile Meals can help.
Mobile Meals Inc. of Charlotte, staffed entirely by volunteers, serves meals to those in need within the city of Charlotte. Need is based solely on the person's inability to prepare his or her own meal. There are no age or income requirements.
Meals are prepared at Hayes Green Beach Hospital, and hospital dietitians oversee the menus, including modifications for restricted or special diets. There are nearly 100 amazing volunteers who deliver approximately 6,400 meals throughout the year.
The program is subsidized through United Way dollars. Subscribers also may use food stamps or be billed monthly. In all, those who need this service can have two meals delivered by a caring volunteer for approximately $5 per day.
