We are pleased to announce that HGB is transitioning the health and wellness activities and clinical screenings normally offered during its annual HealthFest to scheduled opportunities spread throughout the year as part of its new HealthQuest program.

Additionally, HGB and AL!VE also have a variety of programs, services and resources available to the community at no cost or a low cost to provide educational and health support that would traditionally have been found at HealthFest. These include educational presentations and materials, support groups, children’s programming and more.

Community members who looked to HealthFest for information and support are encouraged to consider the many opportunities offered year-round at HGB and AL!VE. Golf, Grilling & Guys’ Health
9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 13
At AL!VE, 800 W. Lawrence Ave., Charlotte

June is Men's Health Month. Celebrate with this third annual event featuring grilling and beer-brewing classes, plus a variety of health and recreational screenings including golf swing analysis, body composition, blood pressure, balance screening and more.

live. life. Nspired. 5K Run/Family Walk
Check-in between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12
Check-in at the ambulance garage on Oliver Street (between Harris and Hall Streets)

This annual HGB 5K run and family walk is inspired by Natalie Freiburger’s 11 years of life lived fully. All runners receive a free shirt. (Pre-registered runners are guaranteed a requested size.) Walkers can pre-order a shirt for $5. Additional shirts will also be available for purchase the day of the event.

Course: The 5K run and free family-friendly walk begin on Oliver Street, continue down Cochran Street to Bennett Park and back. (The family walk turns around at Henry Street.) It is fast, flat and USATF-certified. The course closes at 10:25 a.m.

Cash awards for runners: Male and female: First place – $150; second place – $100; Third place – 50; Masters – $50. Top-finishing amateur athletes, as well as the top three finishers in each age group (five-year brackets), also receive awards. Results, awards and refreshments are located at the race/walk finish line.

HGB Gala Celebration - "An evening of discovery"
At AL!VE, 800 W. Lawrence Ave., Charlotte

The mid-Michigan community is invited to attend Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital’s third Annual Gala from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17. 

This year's gala includes a variety of discovery-themed auction items featuring HGB staff and physicians. Be sure to check back frequently for more sneak-peeks.

Silent auction items include: 

  • MSU Hockey Experience: Don't be intimidated — he still has all his teeth! Discover HGB physician, and former MSU and professional hockey player, Dr. Troy Ferguson, for pre-game drinks and appetizers at HopCat. Then, you and your guest will accompany Dr. Ferguson to a high-energy MSU hockey game. Enjoy luxury dining in a private suite and join Dr. Ferguson near the ice for a unique inside analysis and behind the scenes stories throughout the game.  Go Green!
  • Glass Art Experience: Appreciate the gem in you by enjoying a fused glass art class with HGB's very own talented glass artist, Chris Granning. Discover the beauty of creating a fused glass gem with five of your friends while enjoying small plates of locally sourced tasty treats. The experience will be captured for you to cherish for years to come thanks to professional photographer Amanda Lipsey, of Amanda Marie Photography. 
  • Overnight Tree House Experience for Kids: Surprise your child with an unforgettable experience at AL!VE, where the lights stay on well into the night. Discover a personalized plan for your child and up to 12 friends, where scavenger hunts, rock climbing, movies and campfire stories in the tree house are just the beginning. Kids will also enjoy late-night pizza and creating special desserts with AL!VE's Brooke LaFore.

Family Health and Fitness Day

HGB and MOVE, the fitness center at AL!VE, celebrate National Family Health and Fitness Day with a free event and activities for the whole family. Family Health and Fitness Day is the perfect way to begin a commitment to a healthier lifestyle.

9:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.: CrossFit Sampler
10 a.m. - 11 a.m.: Let’s Walk and Talk with a Doctor Featuring Dr. Kimm Johnson (including Playmakers’ Good Form Walking)
10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.: Strength & Stability
10 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Gluten Free Pancake cooking demonstration
11 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Open Gym
