AL!VE’s cooking challenge fund-raiser showcases local professional and home chefs

AL!VE, the experience-based destination health park in Charlotte, Mich., is hosting a Bring Your A Game fund-raiser that features local home and professional chefs competing in a contest similar to shows seen on the Food Network.

The Chef’s Challenge begins at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 23 at AL!VE. Doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is $5 per person or $20 per family. The audience will watch contestants create a delicious meal in 30 minutes using three mystery ingredients and a pantry with more than 50 items.

The contestants include home chefs Larry Adams from Charlotte, Mich., Marty Martin from Eaton Rapids, Mich., and David Wilson from Sunfield, Mich., as well as Chef Richard Taylor, Nice Spice Seasonings, from Sunfield, Mich., and Chef Doreen Ackerson, Ackerson Farm, from Lake Odessa, Mich.

Audience members will have a number of opportunities to get involved in activities and games. Names will be drawn to help decide which chef has the winning dish, along with the two celebrity judges, including Justin Straube, owner of theSeasonal Grille in Hastings, Mich. Additional names from the audience will be drawn to participate in games as well as for door prizes. There will also be hors d’oeuvres to sample and a kid’s interactive food table.

All proceeds benefit AL!VE: Your Community Well-Being Place located at 800 W. Lawrence Ave., in Charlotte, Michigan. Call 517-541-5800 for more event information. Special thanks goes to Straube for his support and contributions to the Chef's Challenge.
