Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital welcomes Dr. Cara Leahy and expands its neurology services

Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital welcomes Cara Leahy, D.O., who began providing Neurology Services to patients in October.

Dr. Leahy works at Michigan State University's Neurology and Ophthalmology Clinic. She will see patients ages 16 and older at HGB between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., every other Monday. Patients can talk with their primary care providers about scheduling an appointment with Dr. Leahy at HGB if they need neurology services.

HGB now also provides EEG Services in its Sleep Center. Electroencephalograms (EEG) are studies of the electrical activity of the brain for abnormalities that can cause problems in daily living.

"These added services are one more way we are increasing our resources so we can comprehensively meet the needs of our local community," said Tammy Merritt, CMPE, director of HGB physician practices, specialty clinics and urgent care. "We are very pleased to be able to add Dr. Leahy's expertise to our current roster of high-caliber physicians."

Dr. Leahy completed her medical training at MSU's College of Osteopathic Medicine and her residency with MSU Neurology. She earned her undergraduate degree at Alma College in Alma, Mich., and grew up in Galesburg, Mich.
