HGB named to top 100 list of Critical Access Hospitals

Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital was recently ranked as a top performing Critical Access Hospital (CAH) according to iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength IndexTM. It is one of only three rural hospitals in Michigan named to the top 100 list out of the 1,267 CAHs across the nation.

The Hospital Strength Index is a comprehensive scorecard based on more than 50 measures that evaluate market conditions, clinical and operational performance, and financial and qualitative outcomes. It has been ranking CAHs since 2011. This is the second year HGB was named to the list.

CAHs are rural community hospitals that receive cost-based reimbursement from Medicare.

According to iVantage, a healthcare business intelligence and technology company, “The Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals are the nation’s best rural safety-net institutions.”

"We are very pleased to be named to the 2013 Top 100 list," said Matt Rush, FACHE, HGB president and CEO.  "This year HGB is celebrating 80 years of service. The community we serve expects a lot of us, and, in turn, we set high expectations for ourselves. This kind of recognition acknowledges our team’s efforts to enhance community health and vitality, and we expect to continue those efforts for at least another 80 years."

The "Top 100 CAH Report of Findings" was issued in March in collaboration with the National Rural Health Association.

Other key findings of the report include that the top 100 CAHs perform as well or better at the median overall than the full census of all U.S. general acute care hospitals. They also perform in the top quartile in the financial and cost and charge categories.

HGB has been the community’s choice for health care for 80 years. The hospital is committed to working together in health to provide quality care and enhance the vitality of the community. It has expanded its vision beyond providing traditional hospital services to one that promotes health and well-being through AL!VE.
