HGB receives Celebration of Regional Growth Award

Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital is honored to receive the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Celebration of Regional Growth Award. The award is given annually to local organizations in recognition of their contributions to regional economic growth.

HGB was recognized for its efforts to improve the quality of life in Eaton County and creating a regional destination through its investment in AL!VE, an experience-based health park in Charlotte, Mich. The award was presented to Matthew Rush, FACHE, HGB president and CEO, during an award ceremony at the Kellogg Center Thursday, Nov. 20.

“In an era of changing health care, where consumers are expecting more, we wanted to find a tangible way to improve community health and vitality,” Rush said. “AL!VE is helping us accomplish this through its integrated array of services. In conjunction with our physicians’ efforts and hospital services we are motivating healthier behaviors and eliminating barriers, and seeing the positive impacts in a number of ways, including community development. This award helps showcase those efforts and the collaborations that are creating positive results.”

Since its inception the Chamber’s Celebration of Regional Growth Award has recognized more than 50 organizations that have invested a combined total of more than $1.5 billion in the mid-Michigan region.

HGB opened AL!VE in November 2011 with clinical services and a variety of programming. In December 2012 the facility was expanded to include a fitness center, conference space and a children’s recreational and development area, and to increase the length of the indoor walking path. In October 2014 The Big Salad, a Michigan-based restaurant franchise, opened NOURISH by The Big Salad at AL!VE. In early 2015 the fitness center will be expanded by 1,500 square feet to accommodate membership growth. In the past six months AL!VE has had more than 100,000 visits. It offers 8,000 programs and classes annually. More information can be found at www.myalive.com.
