Honor loved ones with HGB’s “Tree of Love”

The annual “Tree of Love” fund-raiser has kicked off at Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital – providing local businesses and individuals the chance to purchase ornaments honoring loved ones.

The proceeds go to the HGB Auxiliary, which uses them for special purchases that enhance the services HGB provides to the community. In years past the fund-raiser has helped purchase equipment such as blanket warmers and an Infiniti Vision System for cataract surgeries.

“The Tree of Love is a way to remember friends, family and heroes during the holiday season,” said Betty Rosenbrook, long time HGB Auxilian and coordinator of the fund-raiser. “As a bonus it’s a way to support the hospital, which gives so much back to our community.”

The ornaments feature ribbons with the name of your loved one and are displayed on the Christmas tree in the hospital lobby. It is $5 for a red bulb, $25 for a silver bulb and $50 for a gold bulb. This year’s goal is to raise more than $1,300.

The tree is displayed between Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, and Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012. Ornaments can be purchased from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
