The annual “Tree of Love” fundraiser has begun at Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital, providing local businesses and individuals the opportunity to honor or remember loved ones with a donation to display an ornament in their name this holiday season.
The proceeds benefit the HGB Auxiliary, a nonprofit organization that uses the money raised for special purchases that enhance services the HGB provides to the community. In years past it has helped purchase items such as surgical equipment and vital signs machines.
“We are grateful for the commitment of our HGB Auxiliary members who dedicate themselves to the Tree of Love project every year at the hospital,” said Matthew W. Rush, HGB president and CEO. “They provide a meaningful way for people to recognize or remember family, friends and heroes during the holidays.”
Pauline Borgman, an officer of the HGB Auxiliary, is this year’s coordinator of the Tree of Love. Ornaments feature ribbons with the name of your loved one or honoree, and are displayed on the Christmas tree in the hospital lobby. Donations are $5 to display a red bulb, $25 for a silver bulb and $50 for a gold bulb.
Donations can be made between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday during the month of December.
