Local Emergency Medical Technician training begins in September

The Charlotte Area Emergency Medical Services and Eaton Rapids Area Emergency Medical Services, departments of Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital, are offering an Emergency Medical Technician training course beginning Sept. 6, 2011. Participants graduate March 29, 2012. 


Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the EMS Training Center at HGB, located at 321 E. Harris St., in Charlotte. Several Saturday sessions are also scheduled throughout the course. The tuition is $800 and includes all books, uniforms and supplies needed. Payment plans are available.


The course is approved by the Michigan Department of Community Health, EMS and Trauma Services Section. It provides the basic fundamentals of the emergency medical field. Topics include: medical-legal, anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, basic life support, pre-hospital care of medical and traumatic injuries, hazardous materials, extrication and more.  


Interested candidates should attend an orientation session in HGB’s Trumley Education Center at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18. Advanced registration is not required for this orientation session.
