Three HGB employees receive hospital’s highest honors

Three employees were recently honored with the Fulton Award of Excellence for their exceptional contribution to the success of Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital. Congratulations to:

  • Janice Fulton, social worker, who received the clinical award.
  • Linda Rawson, insurance authorization specialist, who received the non-clinical award.
  • David Bethka, engineering/materials management manager, who received the leadership award.

Fulton has been with HGB since January 2005. She was nominated because of her willingness to go above and beyond to ensure the best outcome for her patients. Fulton is “a wonderful asset for our organization, an organized guide for staff and patients/families, and a gentle soul of compassion in a time of need,” wrote her supervisor.

Rawson has been with HGB since September 1993. Rawson was commended for communicating with and helping educate several teams within the hospital to keep staff updated on insurance regulations and verification requirements. She works closely with the insurance companies to meet deadlines and with patients to eliminate confusion and surprises on invoices. HGB is most important to Rawson and her 18 years of dedication show in everything she does, wrote her supervisor. This was the third time Rawson was nominated for a Fulton Award of Excellence.

Bethka has worked at HGB since April 2003. Bethka assumed new responsibilities in 2011 and was nominated because of the way he successfully learned all aspects of his expanded position, while immediately looking for ways to make improvements to systems and processes. His supervisor wrote that Bethka takes pride in a job well done and is always willing to go out of his way to help others.

"We are proud to recognize these employees who exemplify HGB’s Five-Star Service behaviors," said Jennifer Bucienski, human resources director. "Health care is a service industry and it takes team members like Janice, Linda and David to ensure we are meeting and exceeding our patients’ expectations of excellent care."

Dozens of employees are nominated for the Fulton Awards by their peers, supervisors and customers. Any employee or manager with at least one year of service with HGB is eligible for nomination. The award is based on:

1. Consistent and outstanding customer service skills;
2. Innovation and creativity at work; and
3. Willingness to go beyond the call of duty.

The Fulton Award is named in honor of Robert Fulton for his many contributions as a member of the hospital’s board of trustees. Fulton is well known for helping bring HGB’s dreams of offering quality, local care to reality.
