Topping the lists of many people’s personal priorities is weight loss. Obesity remains a serious health problem facing many Americans. Something isn’t working and it’s often because we set unrealistic goals for ourselves.
Making a significant lifestyle change is easier to do with support. Consulting your doctor is a great place to start. He or she will be happy to advise you of healthy ways to lose weight that will work best for you and your individual needs. After you have decided on a plan of action, write down your goals to refer to often during your weight loss journey.
Some key tips to remember include:
- Eat better – Have fun learning and trying healthy, new recipes. Incorporate more fruits, veggies, whole grains and lean meats in your diet while controlling portion sizes.
- Set aside time for exercising – Make being active a priority. Find creative ways to mix up your routine. Try something new like roller skating or cross country skiing.
- Find support – Team up with a buddy or consider joining a support group.
- Never give up – You can do it. There will be setbacks, but don’t let them derail your efforts. Soon your positive changes will become good habits.
