HGB Breast Care Center
Medical Director: Troy Ferguson, DO
Nurse Navigator: Loni Allaire, RN
HGB is proud to offer comprehensive breast health services to meet most patient's needs. HGB breast health care can begin with a woman’s annual mammogram. The Breast Care Center features an inviting, pampering environment. Here you will meet the nurse who will walk you through each step of the screening and personally explain the results. If further treatment is needed, your nurse will work with a team of physicians and technicians who are dedicated specifically to your needs.
In addition to screening and diagnostic mammograms using 3-D technology, HGB also offers a full range of services:
The Breast Care Center offers genetic testing for anyone interested in learning more about their breast health risks.
Payment is cash only. (Cost information coming soon; pricing is most often less than an insurance deductible.) Call 517-541-5805 to schedule an appointment.
Mammography – 3-D and 2-D
Recently, HGB's Breast Care Center became the first hospital in mid-Michigan to offer 3-D mammography in addition to two-dimensional mammography. Three-dimensional imaging is the most cutting-edge technology available for breast cancer screening. These screenings produce better quality results for all patients, especially for women with dense breast tissue. Additionally, it is 41% more accurate at finding invasive cancer than the two-dimensional technology currently offered by most health care organizations.
Call 517-541-5805 to schedule your annual 3-D mammogram appointment. Please note there may be an additional charge for 3-D mammography if your insurance doesn't cover the radiology reading fees. It is always a good practice to check with your insurance provider prior to scheduling a health care appointment or procedure.
Leading technology and equipment at HGB means more accurate, efficient and minimally-invasive techniques to ensure procedures are less painful and recovery times are much quicker. Click for information about breast cancer, including risks, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment.
Bone density screenings
In celebration of National Osteoporosis Month, a free bone density screening will be offered to all patients who come in for a scheduled mammogram in May.
In addition to breast care services, HGB also offers bone density screenings in its Breast Care Center. Starting at age 50, you can get a bone density screening every two years, and it must be ordered by your primary care physician. The screening measures bone mass to determine if you have normal bone density, low bone density or osteoprosis. A bone density screening is the only test that can diagnose osteoporosis.
To schedule a bone density screening at HGB's Breast Care Center, call 517-541-5805.
