Emergencies will happen. When they do, you need the experts to make the necessary life-saving, split-second decision so you can focus on what's important ... your family.
HGB's Emergency Department is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians, critical care nurses and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel skilled in providing patient care during a medical or trauma emergency. HGB has an excellent working relationship with area facilities to provide greater-Charlotte residents with a full spectrum of care.
HGB maintains clinical pathways for heart attack and stroke care with surrounding tertiary care facilities to expedite access to the necessary medical care.
The HGB Emergency Department is available to provide emergency medical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The decision to visit your family physician, the urgent care or head to the emergency room can be confusing. The best way to decide may be to ask ... what would my doctor tell me to do? Often the best place to start is to contact your doctor's office and ask for a recommendation. If you don't have a primary care physician consider our guidelines for emergency care:
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Chest or abdominal pain or pressure
- Accident trauma
- Muscle or bone injuries
- Allergic reactions
- Sudden dizziness or confusion, or loss of consciousness
- Prolonged vomiting or diarrhea
- Suspected poisoning
HGB's Urgent Care is located in the same building and work closely together. You can also view the guidelines for Urgent Care if you don't feel your situation warrants emergency care.
