Rehabilitation Services

The caring, professional staff who provides Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital’s rehabilitation services work with you and your primary care physician to develop a customized treatment plan to best meet your needs. Services include inpatient and outpatient services, physical, occupational and speech therapy, and sports medicine.

The primary focus of HGB rehabilitation is to help patients return to normal activity while receiving an exceptional experience. Staff help patients restore function, relieve pain and prevent disability. Services are provided at EMPOWER in AL!VE, featuring state-of-the-art equipment in a pampering environment.

Therapists work with patients one-on-one. Appointments are scheduled within two to three days of receiving a physician’s written or telephone referral. The goal is to get the patient on his or her way to better health as quickly as possible.

Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday.

Learn about Direct Access legislation that went into effect in 2015 and allows patients to go directly to a physical therapist for evaluation and treatment without a physical referral.


HGB's occupational therapists assist patients in regaining, building and developing the skills needed for maximum independence. In addition to orthopedic, work-related or sports-related injuries, patients may be referred for OT services due to arthritis, cancer or other debilitating condition; stroke or other neurological condition; developmental disabilities; and hand or arm trauma. HGB also has a certified hand therapist to provide more intensive treatment based on patient needs. Other services include:

  education for home exercise programs

• In-depth evaluation
• Instruction in adaptive services/equipment

The certified speech language pathologist evaluates and treats deficits involving speech and language, cognitive-linguistic functions, memory and swallowing. Services include:

• Autism evaluation and therapy
• Cognitive-linguistic therapy related to head and brain trauma, and strokes
• Speech and language therapy
• Swallowing therapy (dysphagia)


The rehabilitation services staff consists of more than 10 therapists, including a certified Hand Therapist, plus a licensed, certified athletic trainer. They work with patients to develop a unique treatment program that takes advantage of EMPOWER's and AL!VE's multiple programs and services.
