Surgery Close to Home
HGB’s modern Perioperative Services Department provides patient-centered care by an experienced staff. The staff provides pre-operative teaching and places follow-up telephone calls to ensure positive outcomes for those we serve.
The spacious Perioperative Services Department encompasses an outpatient area, two large operating suites, a four-bed monitored recovery area, a 14-bed Phase II recovery area, an endoscopy procedure room, and a central sterile supply processing area.
State of the Art
The modern surgical facility at HGB is the result of Project 2000, a $7.4 million, 35,000-square-foot expansion that roughly doubled the size of the hospital (excluding outbuildings). The large, state-of-the-art surgical suites and recovery rooms, as well as the dedicated endoscopy room, were the key purposes for the expansion. Project 2000 was supported by almost $1.8 million in donations from more than 1,000 individuals and businesses.
These larger surgical suites and their accompanying equipment have allowed HGB physicians to expand the range of surgical procedures performed at the hospital. In the short term, the largest increases have been in the fields of orthopedics and pain management.
